As expected, a 105-pound women's title fight headlines Invicta Fighting Championships' third event.
The promotion today announced that Jessica Penne and Naho Sugiyama will vie for the promotion's inaugural atomweight championship in Invicta FC 3's main event.
"Invicta FC 3: Penne vs. Sugiyama" takes place Oct. 6 at Memorial Hall
in Kansas City, Kan. Broadcast plans for the event, which features a
total of 13 bouts, haven't been announced. Tickets for the event go on sale soon.

Ultimate Fighting Championship's lightweight title will be defended on network television.
USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie.com confirmed with UFC officials that current lightweight champion Benson Henderson will face Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 5, which takes place Dec. 8 at a host site that has yet to be determined.
A light-heavyweight matchup between former champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Alexander Gustafsson will serve as the night's co-feature, and a rebooked B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald lightweight fight also is set.

The recently scratched fight between Rory MacDonald and B.J. Penn may still take place this year.
MMAjunkie.com today confirmed with sources close to the event that UFC officials are targeting the bout for December's UFC on FOX 5 event. Additionally, a source said it would serve as a co-main event, not the night's main event.
TV host Nate Quarry first reported the potential date on Thursday's new edition of Spike TV's "MMA Uncensored Live."

Rory MacDonald and UFC 152 opponent B.J. Penn were set to make MMA history when they recently became the first fighters to volunteer for Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) drug testing.
However, MacDonald recently pulled out of the event due to a deep eyebrow gash suffered in training.

Dana White slipped in a bombshell announcement during a "scrum" with reporters after Saturday's post-event news conference in Los Angeles.
While answering a question about B.J. Penn and Rory MacDonald agreeing to pre-fight drug testing through the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), White dropped the surprise, saying, "It's not going to happen -Rory's out."
MacDonald brought Penn out of retirement for the fight, which was scheduled for Sept. 22 at UFC 152 in Toronto. But the next battle apparently will be for when and where the fight is rebooked.

LOS ANGELES -A major cut suffered in training that required several stitches will keep Rory MacDonald from a highly anticipated welterweight fight against B.J. Penn at UFC 152 next month.
UFC President Dana White on Saturday told MMAjunkie.com of the injury following Saturday's post-event news conference for UFC on FOX 4, which took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
MacDonald and Penn had been booked for the main card of UFC 152, which is set for Sept. 22 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
