Julianna Pena Replaces Sara McMann, Meets Nicco Montano at UFC Sacramento

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight champion Nicco Montano has a new opponent for her return to the Octagon at UFC Sacramento.

Originally, she was expected to take on Sara McMann, but the Olympic silver medalist announced on social media she was out of the fight. According to MMAFighting.com, Julianna Pena will step in to face Montano.

Pena last fought back in 2017 where she headlined UFC on Fox and was submitted by Valentina Shevchenko. Before that, the 29-year-old beat Cat Zingano and Jessica Eye during a four-fight winning streak. “The Venezuelan Vixen,” who won Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” has been sidelined due to becoming a mom in 2018.

Montano, meanwhile, will return to the Octagon at bantamweight. She was supposed to fight Shevchenko at UFC 228 and after she withdrew from the bout, the Las Vegas-based promotion stripped her of her title. Montano has been sidelined due to a USADA suspension.

UFC Sacramento goes down on July 13 at the Golden 1 Center and will be headlined by Germaine de Randamie vs. Aspen Ladd.
