John Lineker Frustrated with Infrequent Fight Schedule: ‘If You Don’t Like Me, Just Let Me Go'

John Lineker wants to see his name on a UFC bout agreement in a hurry.

The hard-hitting bantamweight took to Twitter to express his frustration with a fight schedule that has seen him compete three times since the beginning of 2017. The 28-year-old Brazilian last appeared at UFC Fight Night 150, where he suffered a split-decision loss to rising contender Cory Sandhagen on April 27.

While Lineker doesn’t have a fight booked, Sandhagen has already been matched up against Raphael Assuncao in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 17.

“My last opponent fought [four] times in a year. He already has another fight!” Lineker wrote. “[Matchmaker Sean Shelby] likes him! I have only fought [three] times since 2016.

“I need to fight! If you don’t like me or my style just let me go!”

It’s worth noting that Lineker pulled out of a proposed UFC 219 booking against Jimmie Rivera due to a tooth infection and withdrew from a previously scheduled bout with Sandhagen at UFC Brooklyn due to injury. Meanwhile, he lost another potential matchup at UFC 233 when ex-champ Dominick Cruz exited the card with a shoulder injury.

Lineker has long been regarded as one of the most entertaining fighters in the promotion. He is 12-4 in UFC competition and owns notable wins over the likes of John Dodson, Michael McDonald, Rob Font and Ian McCall, to name a few.
