The MMA portion of the multi-discipline card reached its climax when Japan’s Shoko Sato made his successful One debut against Mark Abelardo of New Zealand. Sato arrived in the Chatri Sityodtong-led promotion riding a two-bout winning streak, while Abelardo hadn’t tasted defeat in his last five bouts. Sato’s vicious striking and superior wrestling ability secured him a TKO victory at the 1:58 mark of the second stanza. The 31-year-old definitely has a wealth of interesting matchups ahead of him in the One featherweight division.

In the MMA co-main event of the evening, Pongsiri Mitsatit crushed Rabin Catalan, and snapped a two-bout skid in front of a partisan crowd. After showcasing his grappling ability by defending a slick heel hook attempt, local hero Mitsatit folded his opponent with a series of vicious knees to the body. Referee Yoshinori Umeki stopped the contest at 3:05 of the very first stanza.

In the opening MMA fight of the main card, Japanese fighter Kazuki Tokudome managed to bounce back after a two-bout skid and secured his first victory in One Championship. The UFC veteran locked horns with Adrian Pang, who was forced out of the bout due to a nasty cut after 1:27 in the second stanza. Tokudome logged the victory thanks to some nasty one-twos, forcing his opponent against the fence, where the Japanese MMA veteran finished the job with a couple of knees to the head.

Elsewhere, Pieter Buist smashed Kota Shimoishi via TKO at 3:55 mark of the second round, and Chinese fighter Hexi Getu secured his first professional victory by besting Ovais Shah via unan-imous decision.
