Terence Crawford, Amir Khan Make Weight for WBO Welterweight Showdown

Mighty Madison Square Garden in New York will be rocking on Saturday thanks to two boxing superstars clearing their final hurdle on the scales this afternoon.

Terence Crawford will defend his WBO welterweight title against Amir Khan in the main event of a pay-per-view showdown inside the "Mecca of Boxing." Crawford-Khan is one of the more intriguing matchups in recent years as it pits one of the fiercest young unbeaten champions against a seasoned veteran who has been in the squared circle with several of the sport's absolute best.

Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) won silver at the 2004 Olympics and captured the WBA and IBF titles as a pro at junior welterweight and challenged for world titles at both welterweight and middleweight. "King Khan" dropped fights to Lamont Peterson, Danny Garcia and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, but he's toppled the likes of Zab Judah, Marcos Maidana, Paulie Malignaggi and Marco Antonio Barrera. A winner of two straight, the Brit knows can ill-afford a loss to Crawford. Khan came in at 146.6 pounds.

Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs) has taken the boxing world by storm as he's beaten the heck out of every man he's faced in the ring. The Omaha native has knocked out his last five foes and while he hasn't yet faced the amount of future Hall of Famers as Khan has, "Bud" has mixed it up with several high0level opponents. He bested Ricky Burns to capture the WBO lightweight strap, knocked out Thomas Dulorme to add the WBO super lightweight title to his collection and eventually tacked on the WBA, IBF and WBC 140-pound crowns to unify the division. Crawford won the WBO welterweight belt by stopping Jeff Horn and defended it against Jose Benavidez Jr. via knockout in October. He's ready for Khan, the biggest name of his career thus far; he weighed in at 146.4 pounds.

The action goes live on pay-per-view beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
