CM Punk Joins CFFC as Commentator for First UFC Fight Pass Event

CM Punk is back, but not in the way you might think.

The pro wrestler and two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship competitor will be joining the broadcast team of Cage Fury FC for their first event on UFC Fight Pass. The promotion announced today that he will join play-by-play commentator and ESPN radio show host Mike Gill, with the duo calling their first action together at CFFC 71 on Dec. 14.

This is far from Punk’s debut in the commentary booth, as he made his debut back in 2003 calling regional wrestling action for Independent Wrestling Association and Ring of Honor events. He also called matches during many WWE events from 2010-2011. Most recently, Punk called the action on the Netflix original series “Ultimate Beastmaster,” where he and Tiki Barber served as the American commentators on Season 3 of the international competition.

The promotion intends to put on the biggest possible show they can for their foray on to UFC Fight Pass, with the event featuring three title fights. Headlining the card will be an interim lightweight title bout between Joseph Lowry (8-1) and undefeated Cesar Balmaceda (5-0). Also appearing on the bill will be a featherweight title defense for Pat Sabatini (9-2), who looks to stave off challenger Da'Mon Blackshear (6-2). Completing the title trifecta will be bantamweights, where the vacant belt is up for grabs between Alexander Keshtov (8-0) and Nurbegan Sharipov (8-1).

CFFC 71 will be the promotion’s inaugural event broadcast on UFC Fight Pass. It goes down Dec. 14 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
