Alvaro Herrera vs. Jordan Rinaldi

Round 1

Rinaldi works with leg kicks in the opening minute as he stays on the outside of the taller Herrera's punching range. When the American drives inside to shoot, he eats a punch from Herrera, who pulls Rinaldi to the ground with an anaconda choke setup. Rinaldi comes out on top and passes to side control, but Herrera doesn't release the headlock. This leaves Rinaldi in position to bear down on Herrera's neck with a "Von Flue" shoulder choke, forcing a frantic tap from the Mexican fighter.

The Official Result

Jordan Rinaldi def. Alvaro Herrera via Submission (Shoulder Choke) R1 2:01

Joseph Morales vs. Roberto Sanchez

Round 1

Sanchez takes the center of the cage for the first 30 seconds before shooting to the outside and taking down Morales with a double-leg at the fence. Morales looks to set up a guillotine almost immediately, but Sanchez pops his head free and sets up in the Team Alpha Male fighter's guard. Sanchez jams Morales up against the base of the fence, now working from open guard. Morales looks to be considering a triangle, but Sanchez has the Californian's right arm trapped behind his back. Referee Bladimir Puga calls for work as the flyweights reach a stalemate on the ground near the midway point of round one. Morales tries the guillotine again, and this time it allows him to escape to his feet. Suddenly, a right hand floors Sanchez, and Morales tries to polish him off with ground-and-pound. When the stoppage doesn't materialize, Morales jumps on Sanchez's back and forces a tap with a rear-naked choke.

The Official Result

Joseph Morales def. Roberto Sanchez via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 3:56

Jose Alberto Quinonez vs. Diego Rivas

Round 1

Quinonez takes the center of the cage as Rivas circles clockwise around the outside, held at bay by leg kicks from the taller man. Quinonez finds success with a few right hands when he steps into the pocket, avoiding Rivas' counters on the exit. Two minutes in, the bantamweights clinch and Quinonez tries a trip takedown; Rivas keeps his balance and winds up pressed against the fence by Quinonez' left underhook. Quinonez lands a few knees to the body in the tie-up before Rivas shoves him away. Rivas lands a hard leg kick but doesn't follow up, blocks a head kick from the Mexican and continues to move around the outside. Quinonez flicks out jabs with mixed success in the last 90 seconds of the round, constantly pressing forward on Rivas, who heads back to his corner with a cut on the bridge of his nose.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Quinonez
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Quinonez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Quinonez

Round 2

Rivas blocks another high kick, takes one to the lead leg and tries to rush Quinonez with a right hand and slashing elbow; "El Teco" backpedals away from the attack. Now it's the southpaw Quinonez moving forward again, going body-head as he backs up Rivas near the fence. Rivas pushes out to the center but still isn't offering much in the way of offense. Quinonez continues to mix up his strikes, left hands and low kicks, landing clean but never seeming to hurt the "Pitbull." Quinonez gets caught leaning in and takes a clipping right hand that knocks him to the ground, but he's soon back on his feet. Inside the two-minute mark, Quinonez catches a body kick and trips Rivas to the floor. Quinonez comes over the top with an elbow, now stands above Rivas to drop punches. Rivas is flat on his back as Quinonez passes to side control on the left. The Chilean briefly regains half guard, but Quinonez is back in side control in a few seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Quinonez
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Quinonez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Quinonez

Round 3

Rivas comes out swinging big right hands, but his reach isn't allowing him to land cleanly on the rangy Quinonez. "Pitbull" continues to be the aggressor through the first minute of round three, Quinonez backpedaling away and looking to counter, opposite of the first two frames. Rivas catches Quinonez leaning in and lands a short left hand; Quinonez stays outside for a few more seconds, then clinches and trips Rivas to the ground. Rivas gets back up but is quickly taken down again, and now Quinonez stacks up in Rivas' guard with two minutes on the clock. Rivas sweeps and tries an anaconda choke, losing the position as Quinonez rolls free and backs to his feet. The action slows down the stretch, Quinonez still bouncing on his toes but waiting for strikes from Rivas which aren't coming. Quinonez tacks on a few leg kicks and jabs in the final minute, while Rivas can only muster a few Hail Mary punches.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Quinonez (30-27 Quinonez)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Quinonez (30-27 Quinonez)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Quinonez (30-27 Quinonez)

The Official Result

Jose Quinonez def. Diego Rivas via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) R3 5:00

Enrique Briones vs. Rani Yahya

Round 1

Yahya opens with a pair of leg kicks before diving awkwardly at Briones' ankles. Briones sprawls and stays standing, but Yahya takes his back as they clinch on the fence, then drags the Mexican fighter to the ground. Yahya slaps on an anaconda choke; Briones twists loose. The Brazilian adjusts to a north-south choke, but again "Henry Bure" is able to withstand the submission attempt. Moving from north-south to side control, Yahya leans right to left across Briones' body and wrenches a kimura on the left arm. Briones withstands the first try, but when Yahya adjusts and cranks the arm again, Briones is forces to tap.

The Official Result

Rani Yahya def. Enrique Briones via Submission (Kimura) R1 2:01

Dustin Ortiz vs. Hector Sandoval

Round 1

Sandoval clips Ortiz with a left hand in his opening salvo, but the backpedaling Ortiz catches "Kid Alex" with a perfect counter right hand to the temple. Sandoval stumbles, semi-conscious, eats another pair of speedy punches from Ortiz and then falls face-first to the canvas. Ortiz strolls off as referee Jerin Valel jumps in to halt the bout after just 15 seconds.

The Official Result

Dustin Ortiz def. Hector Sandoval via KO (Punches) R1 0:15

Jack Hermansson vs. Bradley Scott

Round 1

Hermansson switches between stances as he cuts angles around Scott, who stalks outward from the center of the cage. A passive opening minute ends with a hard body kick from Hermansson, followed by a chop to Scott's lead leg. Hermansson changes levels and drives Scott to the ground at the base of the fence. Scott throws up a triangle but can't cinch it tight with Hermansson's right arm glued to his side. Hermansson escapes the choke, passes to side control and then straight to full mount. Scott gives up his back and gets flattened out, belly-down, as Hermansson begins unloading with right hands. Scott rolls to his back and gets some elbows to the face from "The Joker." Hermansson sits up tall in mount and blasts away with punches until referee Bladimir Puga steps in for the stoppage.

The Official Result

Jack Hermansson def. Bradley Scott via TKO (Punches) R1 3:50

Alejandro Perez vs. Andre Soukhamthath

Round 1

Soukhamthath presses forward with an inside leg kick, gets backed up to the middle by Perez and gets grazed by the Mexican fighter with a right hand over the top. The bantamweights continue to dip in and out of range, exchanging low kicks, and now Perez catches the incoming Soukhamthath with a pair of punches. Two minutes in, Perez bursts forward and runs into a straight right hand that puts him on his seat. Soukhamthath doesn't pounce, instead allowing Perez to get back on his feet. Perez tries a single-leg, easily avoided by Soukhamthath. Perez comes over the top with a looping right hand that smacks Soukhamthath on the face. Soukhamthath pressures Perez backward toward the fence, where Perez is dropped again, this time with a jab on the chin. Perez ducks under an attack from Soukhamthath but can't secure the takedown he's seeking.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Soukhamthath
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Soukhamthath
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Soukhamthath

Round 2

Soukhamthath presses out from the center with a flurry of punches, misses with a flying knee. The Combat Club fighter continues to pressure Perez in the opening minute of round two, though the volume of his offense has dropped off. Yet another straight punch puts Perez on the deck, but again he's able to jump back to his feet. Soukhamthath lands a left hook to the body, points at Perez and then slugs him with another left, this time to the chin. Perez is biting on Soukhamthath's feints now, fighting a more defensive game midway through the round and the bout. Perez chops at Soukhamthath's lead leg with a pair of kicks, backpedals away from the return fire. Soukhamthath eats a right hand and slips to the ground, and Perez gives him no room to stand. However, Perez doesn't have much space to work in Soukhamthath's tight guard, and the Mexican has to settle for short body punches. Perez pushes Soukhamthath over to the fence, where Soukhamthath is able to work back to his feet. Soukhamthath tries to take Perez's back as they stand, but instead Perez whirls around to clip him with a spinning elbow.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Soukhamthath
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Soukhamthath
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Soukhamthath

Round 3

Soukhamthath comes forward on Perez as the final round begins, backing up "El Diablito" toward the wall. After the flyweights exchange jabs, Perez grabs hold of a single-leg and Soukhamthath pulls the leg free to circle away. The 125ers meet in the center, where they continue to go strike-for-strike, pawing with jabs and low kicks. Soukhamthath comes over the top with a right hand, eats a jab in return. Perez wants to clinch, looks for a trip and winds up holding Soukhamthath against the fence with two minutes left. Perez's second effort yields a takedown, jamming Soukhamthath's back against the fence, where Perez drives a knee to the chest. Soukhamthath works back to his feet with 70 seconds on the clock and comes swinging at Perez with punches, looking to steal the round or mount a finish. Soukhamthath comes leaping at Perez with a knee to the body, follows with a left hook. Perez eats the shots and swings back, clipping "The Asian Sensation" with a left. Soukhamthath leaps at Perez with an awkward kick in the final seconds, slips to the ground and finishes the fight on his back with Perez kicking at his legs.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Perez (29-28 Soukhamthath)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Perez (29-28 Soukhamthath)

Sam Alvey vs. Rashad Evans

Round 1

Evans bites at the first feint from Alvey, circles away and hits "Smile'n Sam" with a leg kick, the only offense of the opening minute. Evans shoots inside behind a right hand and jams Alvey against the fence, working for a high double-leg takedown. Alvey gets underhooks and winds up in the clinch with the ex-champion. Evans changes levels to try the takedown again, still can't get it. Alvey lands a short elbow in the clinch, gets popped with a right hand to the mouth in return. The next time Alvey tries to strike in close quarters, Evans drops down and finally completes his takedown. Alvey is back on his feet within 30 seconds, albeit with Evans still hugging him close on the fence. Alvey reverses with 90 seconds on the clock, then steps back, inviting Evans out to the center. Evans dodges a lead uppercut from the Team Quest fighter, swings back and grazes Alvey with a right hand. Alvey blocks a high kick in the closing 20 seconds, tries to rush Evans and gets spun against the wall again.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Evans
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Evans
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Evans

Round 2

A single leg kick from Evans is once again the only clean offense landed through the first minute. Evans smacks Alvey's body with a loud kick, causing Alvey to grimace and march forward with a clipping right hook. Alvey loads up on a left hand, deflected by Evans, and now the middleweights jog back to the center of the cage with three minutes left in the round. Evans soon moves back to the outside, allowing Alvey to control the center and control the movement. Evans misses with a lunging right hand, gets popped with a jab in return, and now "Suga" comes shooting for another takedown. Alvey hits the ground only for a moment before standing, again held against the wall by Evans. Underhooks from Alvey prevent another takedown from Evans, who seems to be taking a breather as he hugs Alvey on the wall. Alvey breaks loose and charges at Evans with punches in the closing moments; Evans backpedals to avoid most of the telegraphed strikes.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Alvey
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Alvey
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Alvey

Round 3

Evans circles with his back near the fence, grabbing for Alvey's legs but unable to get hold. "Suga" dings Alvey with a pair of punches as he lunges off the fence. When Alvey comes back to return the favor, Evans slips the punches and spins Alvey against the wall. Alvey breaks loose with three minutes on the clock, the round -- and, seemingly, the fight -- still up for grabs. Alvey slugs Evans with a short, hard right hand, denies Evans' takedown attempt and narrowly misses with a knee on the break. Alvey is the fighter pressuring as they circle with two minutes remaining. A jab on the mouth forces Evans to back up a few steps, but he comes back with a big overhand right that snaps Alvey's head backward. Alvey keeps coming forward with one minute left to fight; Evans waits until his opponent is close enough, changes levels and runs Alvey against the wall. Alvey hits the former champion with three or four hard knees to the body as he defends the takedown. They split with 10 seconds left, and it's Alvey who's still marching forward as the final horn sounds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Alvey (29-28 Alvey)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Alvey (29-28 Alvey)

Humberto Bandenay vs. Martin Bravo

Round 1

Bravo bounces a kick off the shoulder of Bandenay, who answers with a kick to the leg of the local Mexican favorite. Another kick from Bandenay lands loud to the body; the next one catches Bravo leaning right, hand low, and lands knee-to-face. Bravo is unconscious immediately, falling to the ground with arms and legs stiff, as the Peruvian newcomer Bandenay pulls off a major upset with a resounding knockout.

The Official Result

Humberto Bandenay def. Martin Bravo via KO (Knee) R1 0:26

Alan Jouban vs. Niko Price

Round 1

Price opens with a kick to the lead leg of the southpaw Jouban, who backs away to avoid Price's first punching combination. Jouban lands a kick to the body, takes another hard chop to the leg and then has to circle away from more Price pressure. Jouban tags Price with a slashing right hand, takes a right in return which marks up the Louisiana native under his left eye. The next right hand from Price puts Jouban on unsteady legs, and Price knocks him to the floor with a follow-up head kick. Price jumps on his kneeling opponent and lands two or three punches before referee Gary Copeland intervenes. The stoppage looks early at first, but Jouban wobbles as he tries to stand and has to grab the cage to keep himself upright.

The Official Result

Niko Price def. Alan Jouban via TKO (Punches) R1 1:44

Alexa Grasso vs. Randa Markos

Round 1

Markos opens with a body kick as both women crouch low and circle in the center of the cage. Markos snaps off a few quick punches, moving in and out of range to avoid Grasso's long, straight punches. Markos lights up Grasso in a close-quarters exchange, landing several right hands in quick succession before shoving the once-beaten Mexican prospect against the wall. Grasso pushes her away and steps forward with a leg kick and a straight right hand, now a kick to Markos' midsection. Markos gets popped with a jab, considers a spinning backfist but stops herself, knowing Grasso is out of range. Grasso tags Markos with a right cross, follows with a pair of short hooks as Markos comes inside to clinch. It's Grasso who takes the outside position in the tie-up, kneeing Markos as they grapple on the fence. Markos tries a head-and-arm throw, gets stuffed underneath and has to power back to her feet with Grasso on her back. Grasso rides Markos back to the ground, where Markos is able to flip over and reclaim half guard. Markos stands again with 45 seconds left, but again Grasso is able to overpower her on the wall.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Grasso
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Grasso
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Grasso

Round 2

Grasso lands a lead left kick to the body, then has to back up as Markos charges her with a wild barrage of punches. Markos dives for a takedown and is once again overpowered by Grasso, then stuffed to the bottom. Back up come the strawweights, now one minute into the middle frame. Markos works a trip takedown and this time comes down on top, in Grasso's half guard. Grasso climbs back to her feet straight away, now hugging Grasso against the fence, peppering the Canadian with short right hands. Markos takes a deep breath, catches a kick from Grasso and trips her to the ground near the center of the cage. "Quiet Storm" comes down on top of Grasso with more than half a round remaining, looking to pass to full mount. Grasso maintains a deep half guard as the pace slows on the floor, though Markos thumbs Grasso with some body punches. Grasso elevates and escapes to her feet, but again Markos converts a caught kick into a trip takedown. Markos takes full mount this time and begins dropping some hard elbows on the already lumped-up face of Grasso, who will need to survive for the better part of a minute here. Markos frames up an arm-triangle choke, can't get it, and Grasso is able to push her back to half guard before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Markos
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Markos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Markos

Round 3

Markos comes over the top with a right hand and eats a quick pair of strikes from Grasso in return. Markos looks to be the fresher fighter in the early going of round three, jogging around the relatively flat-footed Grasso in the center of the cage. Markos ducks under a punch and tries to clinch, but Grasso shoves her away and they continue circling with 3:15 on the clock. Markos' next attempt, a running double-leg, yields another takedown a few feet away from the fence. Grasso wraps up her opponent in a high, closed guard; Markos is heavy on top, pinning down Grasso's arms to keep her on the mat. Grasso kicks her away and springs back to her feet with two minutes remaining. Markos eats a couple jabs from the Mexican striker, tries to return fire and comes up short. Grasso denies Markos' next clinch-takedown attempt, and now the fighters enter the final minute of the bout. Grasso defends a takedown attempt by jumping guard with a guillotine, and the standing Markos releases her. Grasso lands a right hand as she drops down, presses forward and slugs Markos again as the final seconds tick down. Grasso finishes strong with a few more punches and a sprawl on Markos' final takedown try.

Brandon Moreno vs. Sergio Pettis

Round 1

Referee John McCarthy is the third man in the cage for tonight's 125-pound main event, with judges Derek Cleary, Eric Colon and Jeff Mullen scoring at cageside. Moreno opens in a wide right-handed stance, waving his arms and making faces at Pettis in between leg kicks. The Mexican catches Pettis' first kick and runs him to the ground at the foot of the fence, where Pettis wraps up Moreno in a tight guard. Referee McCarthy calls for action, and Moreno is able to pulls his arms free, then passes to Pettis' back. Pettis tries to shake Moreno's hooks, so Moreno switches to a body triangle, locking himself into place. Pettis tries to sit up, but Moreno is in perfect position on his back, and now the flyweights sit up against the wall. Moreno can't get his right arm under Pettis' chin, so he tries a neck crank instead, but Pettis peels the hands away. The "Assassin Baby" is relentless on Pettis' back, constantly searching for a choke or peppering the Milwaukee native with punches. Moreno remains locked on Pettis' back for nearly three minutes on the back end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Moreno
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 Moreno
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Moreno

Round 2

Moreno works off his back foot in the opening minute of round two, while the southpaw Pettis presses forward, pawing with tentative punches. Pettis scores with a leg kick and Moreno continues to showboat a bit, waving his arms and giving Pettis some goofy looks. Pettis slaps Moreno's face with a pair of left high kicks, but Moreno catches the second and drives the American to the floor. Pettis throws up a triangle, Moreno escapes and then peels Pettis off his back as the flyweights scramble back up. Pettis goes upstairs with another head kick and this time defends Moreno's attempt to convert the caught leg into a takedown. Now it's Pettis beginning to show off, winding up his right hand before flicking it onto Moreno's grill.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pettis
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Pettis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pettis

Round 3

Pettis snaps off a hard jab and follows with yet another left high kick that slaps Moreno's face. Moreno tries to catch a kick, can't, but does manage to counter over the top with a glancing left hand. Moreno scores with a kick to the body; Pettis walks him down on the outside, catches a kick from the Mexican and trips him to the mat. "S.P." wants Moreno back on his feet, as the flyweights continue circling with 3:30 on the clock. Moreno dives on Pettis' legs and gets clipped by a short elbow that knocks out his mouthguard and forces him to abandon the attempt. Pettis gets Moreno off balance with another left high kick and follows up with a whipping right hand. Moreno looks to be in trouble momentarily but soon regains his footing. Still, it's Pettis coming forward with renewed aggression as they hit the midway point of the round and the bout. Moreno grabs for Pettis' legs from way out and nearly gets a knee to the jaw for his trouble. Pettis is controlling the center of the cage now, cutting off Moreno's angles and landing some clean right hands in the process. Another left high kick and a jab sting Moreno in the closing 20 seconds, and the Tijuana native heads back to his corner with a cut over his right eye.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Pettis
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 Pettis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Pettis

Round 4

Moreno avoids a jab from Pettis, tries to step forward on the American and gets a finger in his right eye. Referee McCarthy pauses the fight to give Moreno time to recover from the accidental foul, which was actually signaled to the ref by Pettis. Moreno tells the doctor that he's OK to continue, and the fight resumes with 3:45 on the clock. Pettis keeps up his jabbing, moving forward to paw at Moreno with punches and then retreating when the "Assassin Baby" lunges at him with a big power strike. Moreno does connect with a slugging left hand, but Pettis just eats it and carries on with his more technical striking. Moreno is connecting with sporadic punches; the battle of volume and accuracy, however, is being won by Pettis. "S.P." slips on a kick but springs back to his feet before Moreno can capitalize. Moreno scores a late takedown but can't accomplish much before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Pettis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pettis

Round 5

Moreno dives on a takedown in the opening minute of the final frame, pulls his head out of a loose headlock and sets up in Pettis' guard. Pettis wraps up tight from the bottom, locking down Moreno's arms to prevent any offense or passing of guard. Ninety seconds in, Pettis is opening up his guard a bit, possibly hunting for a triangle from his back. Back to closed guard goes Pettis; referee McCarthy calls for work, so Moreno stands to try and pass. Pettis catches the Mexican with a pair of upkicks, and Moreno buries his head in Pettis' chest again. Pettis tries a butterfly sweep as they enter the final two minutes, but Moreno keeps him trapped on the bottom. Pettis rolls to his knees and tries to stand, but Moreno wraps him up around the waist, trapping the American's right arm. Moreno climbs on Pettis' back but soon falls off as they stand. With 75 seconds left, the flyweights are back on their feet, Pettis walking forward on Moreno around the outside. Pettis picks at the suddenly exhausted Moreno with jabs from the outside. Moreno is trying to look fresh and bounce on his toes, but his tired arm punches tell a different story. Pettis is still pressing forward on Moreno when the final horn sounds.
