Unbeaten Pro Boxer Heather Hardy to Make MMA Debut at Bellator 180

Heather Hardy has signed with Bellator MMA and will make her promotional — and mixed martial arts debut — at Madison Square Garden.

The 35-year-old Brooklyn native, who compiled a 20-0 record in professional boxing, will square off against Alice Yauger in a flyweight bout on the Bellator 180 preliminary stream. Sherdog.com confirmed the pairing with a promotion official following an initial report from Yahoo Sports.

Bellator 180 takes place on June 24 and features a light heavyweight championship clash between Phil Davis and Ryan Bader. The Bellator 180 main card airs on Spike at 8 p.m. ET, with prelims streaming immediately prior on Bellator.com at 6 p.m. ET. Bellator 180 serves as a lead-in to the promotion’s pay-per-view offering entitled Bellator NYC “Silva vs. Sonnen.”

Nicknamed “The Heat,” Hardy last appeared in the boxing ring on May 17, when she defended her WBC international featherweight title with a unanimous decision win over Edina Kiss. Hardy was supposed to make her first MMA foray at Invicta FC 21 on Jan. 14, but that bout was scrapped after opponent Brieta Carpenter suffered an injury.

The 38-year-old Yauger, meanwhile, made her promotional debut at Bellator 171, where she dropped a unanimous verdict to Jessica Middleton on Jan. 27. “The Soccer Mom” is 4-5 since beginning her MMA career in 2013.
