Boxing Weigh-in Results: ‘Canelo’ and Chavez Jr. Green Lit
There is no atmosphere in the world of sports like the atmosphere when two beloved and talented Mexican boxers are set to fight each other. On Friday afternoon at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it was as if Marco Antonio Barrera was going to fight Erik Morales or Julio Cesar Chavez was set to face Oscar de la Hoya. The atmosphere was incredible, thanks to the fact that fan favorites Saul Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. were a day away from punching each other (latest odds).

Chavez Jr. was the first of the two to step onto the scale and “JC Jr” nailed it. The much taller, naturally bigger pugilist came in at a ready 164 pounds, much to the delight of thousands of rabid pro-Chavez family fans.
“Canelo” was up next and the once-beaten superstar was right on the money. Alvarez checked in at a solid 164 pounds, setting the stage for what could wind up being one of the most entertaining brawls of 2017.
Former middleweight world titleholder David Lemieux will take on Marcos Reyes in 163-pound catchweight co-feature and both men were on point. Reyes first came in a half-pound heavy but then returned at 163 pounds moments later after dropping down to his birthday suit while Lemieux followed suit by weighing 163 on his first try.
The fistic fireworks will explode live on HBO’s pay-per-view channel beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
