November 13, 2012 (02:15) [ Indexed from MMAjunkie ]
If you've gotten excited about some potential superfight drama after the UFC 154 main event, you might wanna temper your expectations. First, of course, Georges St-Pierre has to return from a 19-month layoff and beat Carlos Condit. If that happens, there has been speculation that Anderson Silva would enter the octagon to set up a pound-for-pound fight between the two dominant champions. UFC President Dana White said as much this past week, and Silva plans on being cageside in Montreal. But not so fast, Silva said. More...

UFC 154's Steven Siler still a work in progress -as long as he can sleep in
November 12, 2012 (22:30) [ Indexed from MMAjunkie ]
Without Olly Bradstreet, there might be no Steven Siler. Siler on Saturday fight Darren Elkins at UFC 154. Both featherweights have three-fight win streaks. The winner may very well earn the right to fight an opponent with a bigger name. No disrespect, but not Olly Bradstreet - Siler has overcome that hurdle in his career. After being thrice submitted by the fighter, who fought on the local circuit in Siler's adopted hometown of Odgen, Utah, he won a fourth bout by first-round guillotine choke. More...

Through the Past Darkly: Reflections on 'UFC on FUEL TV 6: Franklin vs. Le'
November 12, 2012 (01:15) [ Indexed from MMAjunkie ]
As long as you don't have to do it very often, it's fun to wake up to MMA fights early on a Saturday morning. Even this particular Saturday, when I fell out of bed with a NyQuil hangover and a pounding congestion headache, the novelty of enjoying the UFC on FUEL TV 6 event along with my morning coffee was enough to make me briefly forget how crappy I felt. Up at 7 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time, of course - the one true time zone) and done by 10? I could get into this. More...

The 27-year-old will wear the track's logo on his shirt and shorts. A torn ACL has sidelined Cruz since May, but that didn't stop him from getting behind the wheel of a pace car. More...

Finally back in win column, UFC on FUEL TV 6's Thiago Silva wants more frequency
November 11, 2012 (17:00) [ Indexed from MMAjunkie ]
MACAU - When Thiago Silva got up off the canvas on Saturday in Macau, the scorecards didn't matter. Not in the least. The Brazilian took advantage of either his opponent's waning energy or lack of attention, took him to the canvas, mounted him, then transitioned to an arm-triangle choke that he cranked until Stanislav Nedkov tapped. What may come as a surprise to some is, had the fight gone the distance, Silva already was in line to win with the judges. More...

The appeal of Cung Le, Rich Franklin and other distinguished men of the UFC octagon
November 11, 2012 (03:00) [ Indexed from MMAjunkie ]
As Cung Le and Rich Franklin were getting set up inside the octagon early Sunday morning in Macau, FUEL TV play-by-play man Jon Anik noted that, at 40 and 38 years old respectively, both were "on the back end of their primes." In case you couldn't tell, that's a polite way of saying they're old. It's kind of like calling a fighter "well-traveled" or saying he's "a grizzled veteran." It's not fooling anyone, but it sounds nice. More...
